Iran says ‘bits and pieces of Tel Aviv’ will remain if Israel attacks

“If Israel makes a strategic mistake, it has to collect bits and pieces of Tel Aviv from the lower depths of the Mediterranean Sea,” said an Iranian commander.

Abbas Nilforoushan, deputy commander of operations of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has said that Israel is not in a position to threaten Iran, and nothing will be left of Israel if they tried to launch an attack.

“Iran has encircled Israel from all four sides. Nothing will be left of Israel,” he said in an interview with Tasnim news agency.

“If Israel makes a strategic mistake, it has to collect bits and pieces of Tel Aviv from the lower depths of the Mediterranean Sea,” he added.

Nilforoushan asserted in the interview that no country can stand up to the Islamic Republic.

“Tehran’s enemies know that the they will not be in control of ending a war they might start against Iran,” he said.”If the enemies could have started a war against Iran, they would have done it.”

The IRGC commander also claims that Israel is incapable of entering a full-blown war because of it’s lack of strategic depth and internal divisions.

“Israel lacks strategic depth, if only one missile hits the occupied lands, Israeli airports will be filled with people trying to run away from the country.” he said, “So, its people are poor and there are too many ethnic, cultural and political divides in their society. A war will drag Israel’s regime to the threshold of annihilation.”

Iran threatens Israel on a continuous basis, such as in the case earlier this year when Iranian Brigadier-General Hossein Salami recommended for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to “practice swimming in the Mediterranean”, because he will be forced to abandon his country.

Israel continues to defend itself against the Iranian threat, and has reportedly conducted several attacks against against Iranian terror strongholds in Syria and Iraq.

‘Pure Heart’ cult seeks political asylum in Iran

In their asylum request, cult members offered to “help counter Zionist dominance in order to peacefully liberate the Holy Land and the Jewish nation.”

Lev Tahor (“Pure Heart”), an extreme Jewish cult, asked for political asylum in Iran, according to a report by Yeshiva World News.

Back in 2018, the cult members “declared their loyalty and submission to the Supreme Leader and Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” They also sought “asylum, protection and religious freedom of the families of its loyal members,” and promised to “help counter Zionist dominance in order to peacefully liberate the Holy Land and the Jewish nation.”

The documented asylum request was revealed in a U.S. federal court last week and is expected to be used together with other documents to try a group of senior Lev Tahor members. The defendants are all charged with kidnapping, identity theft, conspiracy to defraud the United States and international parental kidnapping.

Lev Tahor is an extreme sect of roughly 200 individuals who claim to live within the boundaries of Jewish law, but whose practices fall well outside the bounds of normative Judaism.

The sect was founded in the 1980s by Shlomo Helbrans, an Israeli citizen. Helbrans, who lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was convicted and served time in prison for kidnapping a 13-year-old Israeli boy in the early 90s. After serving two years in prison, Helbrans and his followers moved to Canada, but left shortly afterward to Guatemala amid allegations of child neglect.

In July 2017, Helbrans was found dead in a river in Mexico and the leadership of the cult was taken over by his son, Nachman Helbrans.

The movement is known to practice arranged marriages between minors and older cult members, and all female members must wear black robes that cover everything but their faces.

Yeshiva World News also reported a series of rules that Shlomo Helbrans made his followers swear to uphold, including requiring members to “negate [their] mind thoroughly and completely to the leader of Lev Tahor.” The rules also demanded that men, women, and “virgins” must “accept to do the will of the leader.”

The International Judo Federation (IJF) on Wednesday announced it had officially suspended Iran over its directive to its Judoka Saeid Mollaei to withdraw from a recent competition to avoid a contest against Israel’s Sagi Muki.

The IJF said that the Iran Judo Federation was suspended from “all competitions, administrative and social activities organized or authorized” by the IJF.

During the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo in August, Mollaei lost to Belgian judoka Matthias Casse on purpose to avoid a faceoff with Muki. He was acting on direct orders from the Iranian authorities, which used his family’s well-being as leverage.

Mollaei subsequently left for Berlin, where he is currently in the process of seeking asylum.

In its statement, the IJF underscored that Iran’s conduct was “in gross contradiction” with the letter sent to the IJF in May by Iran’s Judo Federation, which confirmed that it would “fully respect the Olympic Charter and its non-discrimination principle.”

Iran’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) sent the letter, which was signed by Reza Salehi Amiri, President of Iran’s NOC, and Arash Miresmaeli, President of the Iranian Judo Federation.

Furthermore, Iran’s actions “constitute a serious breach and gross violation of the Statutes of the IJF, its legitimate interests, its principles and objectives as well as of, in particular, but not limited to, the IJF Code of Ethics and the Olympic Charter,” the organization stated.

The IJF Executive Committee stated that “such conduct is intolerable,” and consequently has decided “to initiate a disciplinary procedure against the Iran Judo Federation and to submit the case to the IJF Disciplinary Commission.”

For years, Israeli athletes have faced boycotts and other obstacles in sporting events involving Arab and Muslim countries.
