Evangelical
churches face some opposition from the Orthodox Church, which sees the
fast growth of the Protestant Church as a threat. However, the main
source of persecution is Islamic extremism, much of which is fuelled by
external sources. The unprecedented shift of Islamism from Sunni to
Wahhabism has resulted in increased intolerance towards Christians. More
than 3,000 Christians were displaced when Muslim extremists set fire to
59 churches and 28 homes in Jimma in March.

Pray:

• The unresolved conflict in the east is attracting extremist groups
  such as al-Shabaab from Somalia. Pray for a solution to this conflict.
• There were reports of Christians being imprisoned on false charges. Pray that the authorities would act justly.
• Open Doors provides Bibles and leadership training to the church. Pray that many will grow in the faith as a result.

   deliverance from Christian persecution for those in Ethiopia, prayers
   for divine revelation and God to intervened in the government. Prayers
   prison doors be open for release, deliverance, and salvation (in Christ)
   to those in prison on false charges. Prayers for salvation, increase
   of medical care/assistance, financial support, and housing, etc for
   believers in Ethiopia, (Beta Israel) – Ethiopian (Jewish) believers
   protection, deliverance, aaliyah, and continued ministerial support for
   provision of Bibles, leadership training to the church for spiritual
   growth and development, and supernatural divine intervention for
   conflict with Somalia

2. Prayers of Salvation (in Christ
   Jesus) for Ethiopian Believers (and Beta Israel) with Supernatural
   Divine Protection and Deliverance through, during, and from persecution
   and oppression and that they do not deny the Salvation in His Name. May
   the Light of the Truth penetrate this region with the Glorious Gospel of
   Jesus Christ, that it may yield a great Harvest of Souls for salvation
   in Christ. May the Spirit of the Lord, and the God of All Comfort be
   with them in Him in this region of the world that the Refuge in His Name
   be known among the nations. ” He sent His Word and Healed them and
   Delivered them from destruction” (Psalm 107:20)

3. Ethiopia has often been called the
   original home of mankind due to various humanoid fossil discoveries like
   Lucy. It is also the capital of Africa, politically, economically as
   well as religious wise. Pray for a harmonious, united and peaceful
   Ethiopia, where all religions, languages and cultures of all Ethiopians
   are respected enjoyed. As Ethiopia goes, so does Africa.

4. Lord, first I just want to thank You
   for Open Doors. I thank You that they were able to come alongside
   Pastor Tesafa and his wife and provide financial support in this
   difficult time. I pray that You would continue to heal their bodies and
   minds and that You would strengthen their resolve to continue serving
   You. I pray over their minds especially, that they would not be bound
   by anxiety or fear and that they would be able to forgive their
   attackers. Please also protect Pastor Tesafa and all of the other
   Ethiopian church leaders from violence and harm.

   I’m not entirely sure of the details of this conflict in the east,
   but I pray for Your peace over the situation. I pray that senseless
   violence and killing would stop, and that extremist groups would not be
   able to gain footholds in this region. I ask that You would intervene
   in this conflict and resolve it so that peace can again reign in this
   land.

   I pray for Your justice to be done in Ethiopia. I ask that any
   Christian – or anyone for that matter – who has been imprisoned on false
   charges, and I ask that You would move the authorities to act quickly
   and justly. I ask that You would bring truth to light and shine on any
   type of darkness that is seeking to conceal what really happened in
   these situations. Please also give strength and grace to the prisoners
   as they wait for justice, and help them to continue to trust You and
   rely on You during this time. I pray also for their families and loved
   ones – they need Your strength and grace as well. Help them not to
   become embittered towards You or lose their faith and trust in You.

   And finally, I pray for the continued work of Open Doors in Ethiopia.
   I pray for every aspect of the ministry, especially the
   training/equipping. I pray that all of the Bibles and leadership
   training that is done will equip Ethiopians to become leaders of the
   church and to be strong and mighty in their faith. I ask that You would
   keep them from false doctrine and any type of teaching that is against
   the truth. I pray for the right people to get connected with these
   resources and that they would take their studies seriously. Please
   continue to provide for Open Doors in Ethiopia and give them wisdom in
   terms of what resources to give and where. I ask these things in Jesus’
   name, amen.

5. It is amazing, when Christian
   colonialism ended as countries voted for their independance, how Satan
   slowly and cowardly, infiltred his agenda of murder in the form of the
   Muslim religion, one which wishes it could thrive with its own brand of
   perfectionism, but since it’s a complete counterfeit, it punishes itself
   by the use of bloodshed upon innocent victims, in the name of hatred,
   blasphemy, lies, honour killings and the rest of its darkness stemming
   from hell itself. A kingdom devided against itself cannot stand. “Oh
   Father God, we have no idea whatsoever as to what believers suffer in
   Africa and in so many other countries on the planet. To them, they are
   living in the tribulation period as we are still able to enjoy freedoms,
   though slowly being removed, nonetheless, we will never be able to
   comprehend the harassement followed by persecution and tortures and
   death in some cases. Oh God, please free us by the coming of Jesus. See
   their tears, hear their prayers, please strengthen these brave and bold
   martyrs are made in Your Image, even their killers are likewise. Oh
   Father, our King, let the Seed of Your Word grow in the hearts of those
   who hear Your Message, never to be plucked out of their souls. Help us
   be as strong as our SUFFERING brothers and sister in Christ, in Jesus’
   Name. Thank You for Your great love for us all. Thank You for Heaven,
   our eternal home where You dwell and will receive us. AMEN.”

6. Dear Father,
   I pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Ethiopia tonight.
   Touch and encourage them Lord, to hold strong in their faith through
   You. With the conflict in the middle east continuing, more islamic
   extremist groups are rising and terrorizing and brutalizing Christians.
   Touch the leaders of these countries to realize that peace needs to
   come before the countries end up destroying themselves. These extremist
   groups use their religion of islam as a shield to promote all types of
   terrorist acts, cruelty, and murder. There is no truth in these types
   of actions. But Father, we know that these things are in Your hands and
   that Your Word in the Bible tells us that in the end days, these things
   will happen more and more frequently. Touch the authorities’ hearts to
   help calm the situation and to ensure Christians are not falsely
   imprisoned. Provide courage and cover for Open Doors to continue their
   work in countries such as Ethopia supplying them with Bibles and other
   materials to help them grow in their love for You. Let their hearts be
   cheered as brothers and sisters around the world pray for them.

7. Heavenly Father, The situation in
   Ethiopia and other areas around the world are so complex that it’s
   difficult to understand all the intricacies involved. But all situations
   where persecution and injustice reigns is only because they have not
   come to know you and enter in to a saving faith in your One and Only
   Son, Jesus. Only by entering in to a saving knowledge of Jesus can any
   of these issues be resolved. Heavenly Father, it is you, by the power of
   the Holy Spirit, who can change hearts that can result in an end to the
   suffering. Until individuals come to know Jesus as their Lord and
   Savior, injustice and persecution will remain. My prayer, Heavenly
   Father, is that you would open people’s hearts to Jesus. I pray for a
   supernatural outpouring of courage and perseverence to fall upon all the
   believers who are suffering under such dire circumstances. Please,
   Heavenly Father, lift them up and protect them in the shadow of your
   wings! Let no harm come to them, but instead let them be a powerful
   witness to those who do not know you. Give them a sincere and loving
   heart towards their enemies, that they would turn to you and enter into
   your salvation! I pray a peace to come upon these lands that only can
   come by knowing you! Though we know there will always be great suffering
   until Jesus returns, I pray that nothing endured in your name would be
   in vain. You are our good and gracious God, and you want all to come to
   you. I pray, Lord, that this would be so! Thank you, Heavenly Father,
   that though we see through a glass darkly, you have already won every
   battle. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, and be mindful and prayerful
   towards those who know suffering for your namesake. Amen.

   Please send healing to Tesafa and his congregation. Send help so
   that they may lead others to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to
   the way everlasting. Embrace them so they are ever aware of your love
   and protection and strengthen the brethren who would comfort and
   encourage them with the love of Christ. In Jesus’s name I pray.

9. Almighty Father in Heaven,
   I ask that you bring an unprecedented Peace to the country of
   Ethiopia as it has never experienced before ! May the Holy Spirit, the
   Comforter, descend upon this country with a Love Awakening that would
   touch the hearts of all Islamic believers that they would come to know
   the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.
   We thank you , O Lord, for the dreams and visions and miracles that
   you have been performing for Islamic believers and, which consequently
   has brought many of them to the One True Faith which is in Yeshua, Your
   Son!
   We thank you for blessing Pastor Tesafa with your
   healing balm and, I pray that you would surround him and his family now
   with warring angels from Heaven to protect them and all followers of the
   Messiah who reside in Ethiopia!

    brothers and sisters in Ethiopia in prayer to YOU. We ask that YOU
    protect and sustain them including Pastor Tesafa and other Church
    leaders. Give them courage and perserverance to live by faith during
    these difficult times especially those who have been imprisoned for Your
    name sake. To be strong in YOU and never give up hope. Help us to
    remain faithful in walking alongside of them when they need it the most.

11. Lord, I come praising You for the
    church in Ethiopia! Lord, please be with Tesafa and his family as he
    recovers from his injuries that were caused by hatred. Please let
    others who are in the same situation draw comfort from You. Lord, I
    pray for the unrest in this country and I pray that You would sending a
    healing hand to turn the tide and bring peace once again. The extremist
    minority groups are wreaking havoc on this nation. We pray that You
    would help the government to stand up to this terrible behavior and put a
    stop to it. Lord, please protect Your church in this country. Please
    let the resources that are available be multiplied and be made available
    for all in need. Thank You for Open Doors and ministries like it that
    help the people in these countries! Please continue to bless them! Also,
    please let there be unity among the majority Christian population in
    Ethiopia. There is power in numbers and if they unite in Christ’s name,
    then the gates of hell will not prevail against them! We thank You for
    Your awesomeness, power, love, and faithfulness! In Jesus’s Name,
