Paolo Lami 6/11/2014 È la religione più perseguitata in assoluto. I suoi fedeli vengono braccati e sterminati con una frequenza impressionante ogni cinque minuti nel mondo ne viene ammazzato uno. La XII edizione del Rapporto 2014 sulla libertà religiosa di “Acs” la Fondazione di Diritto Pontificio “Aiuto alla Chiesa che soffre” cristallizza in maniera drammatica i numeri di un olocausto in crescendo che sembra non lasciare speranze per il futuro ai cristiani.
Le conclusioni alle quali giungono gli analisti della Fondazione sono sconcertanti la libertà religiosa non è garantita nel 60 per cento del mondo i cristiani sono obiettivo di sistematiche persecuzioni religiose. La mappa redatta sulla base dei dati che sono un vero e proprio bollettino di guerra spiega meglio di tante parole qual’è la situazione dei cristiani sul pianeta. In 20 Paesi le violazioni sono particolarmente gravi. Ma vi sono comunque 116 Stati – sui 196 Stati analizzati dall’Acs – nei quali questo diritto trova qualche ostacolo.
Cresce l’intolleranza in Europa poche speranze per il futuro
Speranze per il futuro? A guardare il trend di crescita del fenomeno tutt’altro la situazione è notevolmente peggiorata negli ultimi due anni.
Paradossalmente i cristiani vivono meglio in Africa e in America Latina che in Europa se nel continente africano le diverse religioni convivono abbastanza serenamente pur essendoci alcune sacche di estremismo – nella Repubblica Centrafricana e nel nord della Nigeria operano gruppi violenti islamici di cui Boko Haram è il più conosciuto – cresce l’intolleranza in Europa. Stesso discorso vale per l’America Latina dove tutto sommato i cristiani sono abbastanza tutelati certamente più che in Europa.
L’Osservatorio sull’intolleranza e la discriminazione contro i cristiani ha contato 41 leggi nei diversi Paesi europei che «colpiscono sfavorevolmente i cristiani».
Molto più complessa e drammatica la situazione in Asia dove fra le minoranze sono i cristiani quelli maggiormente perseguitati.
Di fatto l’analisi della Fondazione di Diritto Pontificio che viene riproposta ogni anno con nuovi aggiornamenti dal 1999 evidenzia che solo in 6 Paesi al mondo la situazione è migliorata. Ma almeno tra questi sono inclusi anche Stati in cui le limitazioni al diritto sono elevate.
Un genocidio sistematico attraverso le conversioni imposte
E in Italia? Gli ostacoli alla fede sono “lievi” ma comunque la situazione è in peggioramento.
Nulla in confronto a quello che succede in Medio Oriente ovviamente. Lo ricorda l’irachena Pascale Warda cristiana ex-ministro per le Politiche migratorie e fondatrice della Società irachena per i diritti umani che parla esplicitamente di “genocidio”. L’ex-ministro iracheno racconta di cristiani che continuano ad abbandonare la propria terra di conversioni imposte di chiese distrutte e ricostruite e poi distrutte di nuovo come quella di San Giovanni Battista a Baghdad «Chiediamo l’aiuto della comunità internazionale – dice – perché noi comunque non abbiamo perso la speranza».
«La libertà religiosa è un diritto fondamentale e condizione imprescindibile di ogni società libera e giusta» scrive nella prefazione al dossier di Acs Paul Bhatti ex-ministro pakistano per l’Armonia nazionale e fratello di Shahbaz Bhatti ministro per le Minoranze ucciso nel 2011.

Aldo Di Lello 1/11/2013 C’è un grande emergenza umanitaria nel mondo di cui poco si parla. È l’emergenza della persecuzione che colpisce le comunità cristiane in molte aree della Terra. A ricordare questa atroce realtà ai tanti immemori ai tanti distratti e ai tanti “struzzi” è stato nel giorno di Ognissanti il cardinale Walter Kasper presidente emerito del Pontificio Consiglio per l’Unità dei cristiani «Dobbiamo ricordare i moltissimi cristiani che vivono in condizioni disumane di grande povertà e miseria i profughi i migranti gli incarcerati gli isolati e i soli ». La tragedia dei barconi di profughi si spiega anche con la recrudescenza dell’odio etnico-religioso nel Corno d’Africa e nell’Africa sub-sahariana dove imperversano le milizie fondamentaliste legate ad Al Qaeda e dove le stragi di cristiani sono purtroppo sempre più frequenti. Come in Nigeria dove il gruppo integralista di Boko Haram semina la morte e il terrore. Ma il fenomeno è molto più vasto e generalizzato. «Ogni cinque minuti viene ucciso un cristiano nel mondo» afferma il sociologo delle religioni Massimo Introvigne riferendo i dati del 2011 dai quali risulta che ogni anno sono 105mila le vittime cristiane dell’odio religioso.
Laddove non sono i gruppi terroristici a compiere stragi provvedono taluni Stati soprattutto quelli che applicano in vario modo la Sharia (la legge islamica) a limitare la libertà religiosa. Anche nel “laico” Pakistan uno dei Paesi in cui i cristiani sono peraltro maggiormente colpiti dall’odio degli islamisti radicali vigono istituti come la “legge antiblasfemia” che coartano di fatto l’espressione della fede cristiana. E proprio una giovane donna pakistana Asia Bibi colpita da tale legge è diventata un delle figure simbolo delle vittime della persecuzione. Di fede cattolica Asia vive da nove anni in carcere perché accusata di aver «offeso» il profeta Maometto. In suo favore si stanno mobilitando da anni le organizzazioni umanitarie di tutto il mondo. La campagna per la liberazione della giovane donna ha giù fatto due illustri vittime in Pakistan il governatore del Punjab Salmaan Taseer e il ministro per le Minoranze religiose Shahaz Bhatti entrambi assassinati in attentati terroristici per il loro impegno i favore della perseguitata. Dietro le parole del cardinale Kasper c’è un mondo di inaudita sofferenza e di intollerabile ingiustizia. E fa indubbiamente riflettere il richiamo a una ricorrenza storica. L’Editto di Costantino che pose fine alle persecuzioni contro i cristiani garantendone la libertà di culto è del 313 d. C. esattamente 1700 anni fa. Dopo 17 secoli la persecuzione non è finita.
