Come i nostri lettori sanno, non poche volte ci siamo visti su posizioni diverse da don A. Minutella, talvolta con confronti aspri (in particolare ai tempi di un nostro celebre intervento video) e con critiche senza sconti.
Chiarito questo, non possiamo – per trasparenza – non rendere nota una sua lunga dichiarazione di questa sera, che manifesterebbe una presa di coscienza pubblica.
Il video è accorato e dai toni netti, rivendica onestà intellettuale. Di fronte a interventi del pubblico che stemperavano la situazione, il sacerdote ha ricordato la necessità di non fuggire di fronte a un quadro piuttosto palese.
Da parte nostra, tuttavia, non possiamo non ribadire come si noti una piena continuità di queste dichiarazioni di Ratzinger con tutta la sua storia, dai tempi del Concilio in poi.

RS: Buongiorno Eccellenza, La ringraziamo per il dialogo che intratterremo. Partiamo da Galleria neovaticana, il libro di Marco Tosatti di cui Lei ha scritto la prefazione. Ci permetta di raccontarLe un aneddoto: non era passata che qualche ora dall’annuncio dell’invio in stampa, e già su Twitter si manifestava un profilo con un sondaggio – basandosi solo sulla copertina e sul titolo, evidentemente – per chiedere quanto fosse evangelico stampare un volume dedicato a scabrose accuse e a fatti non sempre edificanti. Cosa risponderebbe a questa obiezione?
CMV: Mi sia qui permesso di ricordare che Benedetto XVI nei mesi che precedettero la sua decisione di assumere il titolo singolare di “papa emerito”, istituì una Commissione cardinalizia, presieduta dal Cardinale Herranz, e composta dai Cardinali Tomko e De Giorgi, con l’incarico di svolgere un’accurata indagine concernente le notizie riservate diffuse da Vatileaks. In quell’occasione, dovetti insistere con il Cardinale Herranz perché potessi deporre, atteso che non era sua intenzione interrogarmi nonostante fossi coinvolto in prima persona come autore dei documenti riservati destinati al Pontefice, che erano stati trafugati e consegnati alla stampa. Consegnai loro un corposo dossier in cui rendevo conto di tutte le disfunzioni e della rete di corruzione di cui ero venuto a conoscenza e che ebbi a fronteggiare come Segretario Generale del Governatorato. Accompagnai quel dossier con una lettera, in cui tra l’altro scrissi: “Sono molto addolorato per il grave danno procurato alla Chiesa e alla Santa Sede dalla fuga di tanti documenti riservati… Se vi sono dei responsabili per tali atti inconsulti, ben più grave è la colpa di chi si è reso responsabile di tanta corruzione e degrado morale nella Santa Sede e nello Stato della Città del Vaticano, e quella di alcuni cardinali, prelati e laici che, pur sapendo, hanno preferito convivere con tanta sporcizia, addormentando le loro coscienze pur di compiacere al superiore potente e far carriera. Spero che almeno questa Commissione Cardinalizia, per amore alla Chiesa, sia fedele al Santo Padre e faccia tutta la pulizia necessaria da Lui voluta e non permetta che questa Sua iniziativa sia ancora una volta insabbiata… Numerosi sono stati i giornalisti di vari paesi che hanno cercato di contattarmi… Sono stato zitto, per amore alla Chiesa e al Santo Padre. La forza della verità deve sgorgare dall’interno della Chiesa e non dai media… Prego per Voi Cardinali, perché abbiate il coraggio di dire la verità al Santo Padre; e prego per il Santo Padre, perché abbia la forza di far sì che essa venga alla luce nella Chiesa.” Quella mole di informazioni, assieme alle altre prove raccolte dai tre Cardinali, avrebbe consentito un’operazione di pulizia: tutto è stato insabbiato! e può solo costituire un ulteriore elemento di ricatto per i nomi ivi contenuti e, da ormai otto anni, un’occasione di discredito nei confronti di chi viceversa ha servito fedelmente la Chiesa e la Santa Sede. Necesse est enim ut veniant scandala; verumtamen væ homini per quem scandalum venit (Mt 18, 7). Denunciare la corruzione dei chierici e dei Prelati si è imposto come un gesto di carità nei riguardi dei fedeli e un atto di giustizia nei confronti della Chiesa martoriata, perché da un lato mette in guardia il popolo di Dio dai lupi travestiti da agnelli e li mostra per quello che sono, e dall’altro dimostra che la Sposa di Cristo è vittima di una conventicola di lussuriosi avidi di potere, allontanati i quali essa può tornare a predicare il Vangelo. Non è chi porta alla luce gli scandali che pecca contro la carità evangelica, ma chi quegli scandali li compie e li copre. Le parole del Signore non danno adito ad equivoci.
RS: Come si sa, andando oltre il tema morale, risulta impossibile non individuare nel tracollo dottrinale il cardine stesso della crisi nella Chiesa. In relazione a questo, in più occasioni Lei ha manifestato una critica serrata al Vaticano II. Sul punto Le chiederemmo una specificazione ulteriore. Parlando con Sandro Magister ha attaccato: «la favola bella dell’ermeneutica – ancorché autorevole per il suo Autore – rimane nondimeno un tentativo di voler dar dignità di Concilio ad un vero e proprio agguato contro la Chiesa». Possiamo dunque chiarire che il problema non è individuabile solo dal Vaticano II ma nel Vaticano II? Detto in altri termini: il processo rivoluzionario ha avuto una svolta con il “Concilio” e non solo dopo il “Concilio”? Non semplicemente lo spirito vaticansecondista, ma anche la lettera è da mettere sotto accusa?
CMV: Non vedo come si possa sostenere che vi sia un presunto Vaticano II ortodosso di cui nessuno ha parlato per anni, tradito da uno spirito del Concilio che pure tutti elogiavano. Lo spirito del Concilio è ciò che lo anima, quello che ne determina la natura, la particolarità, le caratteristiche. E se lo spirito è eterodosso mentre i testi conciliari non sembrano essere dottrinalmente eretici, questo è da attribuire ad un’astuta mossa dei congiurati, all’ingenuità dei Padri conciliari e alla connivenza di quanti hanno preferito guardare altrove, sin dall’inizio, piuttosto di prendere posizione con una chiara condanna delle deviazioni dottrinali, morali e liturgiche. I primi ad essere perfettamente consapevoli dell’importanza di mettere mano ai testi conciliari per poterli poi usare per i propri scopi furono Cardinali e Vescovi progressisti, in particolare tedeschi e olandesi, con i loro periti. Non a caso essi fecero in modo di rifiutare gli Schemi preparatori preparati dal Sant’Uffizio e ignorarono i Desiderata dell’Episcopato mondiale, ivi compresa la condanna degli errori moderni, specialmente del comunismo ateo; riuscirono anche ad impedire la proclamazione di un dogma mariano, vedendo in esso un «ostacolo» al dialogo ecumenico. La nuova leadership del Vaticano II fu possibile grazie ad un vero e proprio colpo di mano, al ruolo preminente del Gesuita Bea e dall’appoggio di Roncalli. Se gli Schemi fossero stati mantenuti, nulla di quello che uscì dalle Commissioni sarebbe stato possibile, perché essi erano impostati sul modello aristotelico-tomistico che non permetteva formulazioni equivoche. La lettera del Concilio va quindi messa sotto accusa perché è da questa che è partita la rivoluzione. D’altra parte: sapreste citarmi un caso nella storia della Chiesa in cui un Concilio Ecumenico sia stato deliberatamente formulato in modo equivoco per far sì che ciò che esso insegnava nei suoi atti ufficiali venisse poi sovvertito e contraddetto nella pratica? Ecco: basta questo per catalogare il Vaticano II come un caso a sé, un hapax sul quale gli studiosi potranno cimentarsi, ma che dovrà trovare soluzione da parte dell’Autorità suprema della Chiesa.
RS: Come è avvenuta la Sua presa di coscienza in relazione a questa crisi? Un processo graduale? Un fatto immediato e sviluppatosi nel breve periodo?
CMV: La mia presa di coscienza è stata progressiva, ed è iniziata relativamente presto. Ma comprendere, o iniziare a sospettare che quanto ci fu presentato come frutto dell’ispirazione dello Spirito Santo fosse in realtà suggerito dall’inimicus homo non è bastato a far crollare quel senso di sofferta obbedienza alla Gerarchia, anche in presenza di molteplici prove della malafede e del dolo di alcuni suoi esponenti. Come ho già avuto modo di dichiarare, quello che allora vedevamo concretizzarsi – parlo ad esempio di alcune novità come la collegialità episcopale o l’ecumenismo o il Novus Ordo – potevano apparire come dei tentativi di venire incontro al comune desiderio di rinnovamento, sull’onda della ricostruzione del dopoguerra. Dinanzi al boom economico e ai grandi eventi politici, la Chiesa sembrava doversi in qualche modo svecchiare, o così ci dicevano tutti, ad iniziare dal Santo Padre. Chi era abituato alla disciplina preconciliare, all’ossequio all’Autorità, alla venerazione del Pontefice Romano non osava nemmeno pensare che quello che ci veniva surrettiziamente mostrato come un mezzo per diffondere la Fede e convertire alla Chiesa Cattolica tante anime era in realtà un veicolo, un inganno dietro cui si celava, nella mente di alcuni, l’intenzione di cancellare progressivamente la Fede e lasciare le anime nell’errore e nel peccato. Quelle “novità” non piacevano quasi a nessuno, men che meno ai laici, ma ci erano presentate come una sorta di penitenza da accettare, avendone in cambio una maggior diffusione del Vangelo e la rinascita morale e spirituale di un mondo occidentale prostrato dalla Guerra e minacciato dal materialismo. Cambiamenti radicali iniziarono con Paolo VI, con la riforma liturgica e la drastica proibizione della Messa tridentina.
Mi sentii personalmente ferito ed impotente quando, come giovane segretario all’allora Delegazione apostolica di Londra, la Santa Sede proibì all’Associazione “Una Voce” la celebrazione di una sola Messa secondo il Rito Antico nella cripta della Cattedrale di Westminster. Durante il Pontificato di Giovanni Paolo II alcune delle istanze più estreme del Concilio trovarono una spinta propulsiva nel pantheon di Assisi, negli incontri nelle moschee e nelle sinagoghe, nelle richieste di perdono per le Crociate e l’Inquisizione, con la cosiddetta purificazione della memoria.
La carica eversiva di Dignitatis humanae e di Nostra ætate fu evidente in quegli anni.
Venne poi Benedetto XVI e la liberalizzazione della liturgia tradizionale, fino ad allora ostentatamente avversata, nonostante le concessioni papali successive alle Consacrazioni episcopali di Ecône. Malauguratamente le devianze ecumeniche non cessarono nemmeno con Ratzinger, e con esse l’ideologia conciliare che le giustificavano. L’abbandono di Benedetto e l’avvento di Bergoglio continuano ad aprire gli occhi a moltissime persone, soprattutto ai fedeli laici.
RS: Tema distinto ma connesso a questo è quello relativo ai protagonisti della stagione conciliare e post-conciliare. Fermiamoci un attimo sulla figura di Ratzinger: risulta innegabile, pur con sfumature diverse, il ruolo del teologo bavarese tanto al Vaticano II quanto dopo (ricordiamo che dal 1981 al 2005 è stato Prefetto della Congregazione per la dottrina della Fede, dal 2005 al 2013 ha regnato sul Soglio di Pietro, dal 2013 è “Papa emerito”). Da parte nostra il giudizio sulla portata del ratzingerismo è certamente negativo: sotto la sua amministrazione della CdF hanno prosperato quelle stesse devianze che oggi vediamo “fiorire” in modo esplicito; appena eletto al Soglio ha tolto la tiara dallo stemma pontificio; ha proseguito sulla via dell’ecumenismo indifferentista rinnovando le scandalose celebrazioni di Assisi; a Erfurt è arrivato al punto di affermare «Il pensiero di Lutero, l’intera sua spiritualità era del tutto cristocentrica», nel Motu proprio Summorum Pontificum ha definito la Messa di sempre e il Novus Ordo come due forme dello stesso rito (quando al contrario implicano due teologie totalmente diverse); ha poi creato questo ibrido improbabile del “Papa emerito vestito di bianco” che – al netto delle intenzioni, che non giudichiamo – sembra essere non solo un pericoloso equivoco, ma un ingranaggio quasi necessario del dualismo che anima l’attuale dinamica della dissoluzione ecclesiale. Questi pochi esempi, cui ne potrebbero seguire molti altri, sono a nostro avviso rivelatori del fatto che Ratzinger, da sempre e pur con ruoli e posizioni non identiche, è stato dall’altra parte della barricata. Abbiamo già visto la Sua affermazione sulla «favola bella dell’ermeneutica», ma anche in altre occasioni Lei ha fatto notare alcuni aspetti problematici del pensiero di Ratzinger. Ci riferiamo in particolare a una sua recente dichiarazione su LifeSiteNews in cui ha sostenuto: «Sarebbe però auspicabile che egli, soprattutto in considerazione del Giudizio Divino che lo attende, si allontani definitivamente da quelle posizioni teologicamente errate – mi riferisco in particolare a quelle dell’Introduzione al cristianesimo – che sono ancora oggi diffuse in università e seminari che si vantano di chiamarsi cattolici». Le chiediamo dunque: se dovesse sintetizzare il Suo giudizio sul pensiero del teologo bavarese cosa direbbe ai nostri lettori? Inoltre: Lei ha avuto la possibilità di operare a stretto contatto con Benedetto XVI, cosa può dirci di lui sul piano umano? Non è – sia chiaro – una domanda su aspetti riservati, ma sulla personalità che ha potuto conoscere da vicino.
CMV: I punti che avete elencato, pur con alcune sfumature, mi trovano purtroppo concorde, non senza un vivo dolore. Molti atti di governo di Benedetto XVI sono in linea con l’ideologia conciliare, della quale il teologo Ratzinger è da sempre strenuo e convinto sostenitore. La sua impostazione filosofica hegeliana lo ha portato ad applicare lo schema tesi-antitesi-sintesi in ambito cattolico, ad esempio considerando i documenti del Vaticano II (tesi) e gli eccessi del postconcilio (antitesi) componibili nella famosa “ermeneutica della continuità” (sintesi); né fa eccezione l’invenzione del Papato emerito, dove tra l’essere Papa (tesi) e il non esserlo più (antitesi) si è scelto il compromesso del rimanerlo solo in parte (sintesi). La stessa mens ha determinato quanto è avvenuto per la liberalizzazione della liturgia tradizionale, affiancata al suo contraltare conciliare nel tentativo di non scontentare né i fautori della rivoluzione liturgica né i difensori del venerando rito tridentino. Il problema è quindi di matrice intellettuale, ideologica: esso emerge ogniqualvolta il teologo bavarese ha voluto dare una soluzione alla crisi che affligge la Chiesa: in tutte queste occasioni la sua formazione accademica influenzata dal pensiero di Hegel ha creduto di poter mettere insieme gli opposti. Non ho motivo di dubitare che Benedetto XVI abbia voluto a suo modo compiere un gesto di conciliazione con le istanze del tradizionalismo cattolico; né che egli non sia consapevole della situazione disastrosa in cui versa il corpo ecclesiale; ma l’unico modo per restaurare la Chiesa è seguendo il Vangelo, con uno sguardo soprannaturale e con la consapevolezza che Bene e Male, per decreto di Dio, non possono esser messi insieme in un fantomatico juste milieu, ma che sono e rimangono inconciliabili e opposti, e che servendo due padroni si finisce per scontentare entrambi. Per quanto riguarda la mia conoscenza diretta di Benedetto XVI, posso dire che negli anni del suo Pontificato in cui ho servito la Chiesa in Segreteria di Stato, al Governatorato e come Nunzio negli Stati Uniti, mi sono fatto l’idea che egli si sia circondato di collaboratori inadeguati, inaffidabili o anche corrotti, che hanno ampiamente approfittato della “mitezza” del suo carattere e di quella che potrebbe essere considerata come una certa sindrome di Stoccolma soprattutto nei confronti del Card. Bertone e del suo Segretario particolare.
RS: In alcuni articoli apparsi su CatholicFamilyNews.com si faceva notare come la Sua posizione sulla situazione della Chiesa sia prossima a quella di Mons. Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, uno dei quattro Vescovi consacrati da Mons. Lefebvre. Dalla stessa fonte si riportava una Sua frase secondo cui lo stesso Mons. Lefevbre sarebbe un confessore esemplare della Fede. Alla luce anche della ferma critica al Vaticano II e, d’altro canto, della Sua non adesione al sedevacantismo, verrebbe da ipotizzare che l’impostazione che Lei promuove sia molto vicina a quella della Fraternità Sacerdotale San Pio X. Può dirci qualcosa in proposito?
CMV: Da molte parti del mondo cattolico, specialmente nei milieux conservatori, si sente affermare che Benedetto XVI sarebbe il vero Papa e che Bergoglio sarebbe un antipapa. Questa opinione si basa da un lato sulla convinzione che la sua Rinunzia sia invalida (per il modo in cui è stata formulata, per le pressioni esercitate da forze esterne o per la distinzione tra munus e ministerium papale) e dall’altro sul fatto che un gruppo di Cardinali progressisti avrebbe cercato di far eleggere al Conclave del 2013 un proprio candidato, in violazione delle norme della Costituzione Apostolica Universi Dominici Gregis di Giovanni Paolo II. Aldilà della plausibilità di queste argomentazioni, che se confermate potrebbero invalidare l’elezione di Bergoglio, questo problema può esser risolto solo dall’Autorità suprema della Chiesa, quando la Provvidenza si degnerà di porre fine a questa situazione di gravissima confusione.
RS: Parliamo del futuro. In questi anni burrascosi Lei ha inteso servire la Chiesa con interventi scritti, con video, partecipando a iniziative e con tutte le attività che chi La segue ben conosce. Per il domani intravede la possibilità che la Sua missione episcopale prenda forme diverse? Pensa a qualche attività specifica? Con una più marcata presenza pubblica?
CMV: La mia età, le vicissitudini di questi ultimi anni e la situazione della Chiesa non mi permettono di fare progetti, come peraltro non ho mai fatto in tutta la mia vita. Lascio che la Provvidenza disponga di me come crede, mostrandomi di volta in volta la via che devo percorrere. Spero di tutto cuore che la mia testimonianza, specialmente per quanto riguarda la comprensione dell’inganno che si sta consumando nella Chiesa, permetta a Cardinali, a miei Confratelli nell’Episcopato e nel Sacerdozio di aprire gli occhi, in un gesto di umiltà, di coraggio e di confidenza nella potenza di Dio. Non possiamo continuare a difendere la causa e l’origine della crisi presente solo perché non vogliamo riconoscere di essere stati tratti in inganno: questa ostinazione nell’errore sarebbe una colpa peggiore dell’errore stesso.

Philip e Bee Butler hanno cantato e Philip ha ballato: un rituale che hanno chiamato “Welcome to Country” prima della messa serale del 28 agosto nella parrocchia cattolica di St. Mary Star of the Sea a Milton (NSW, Australia). In precedenza Philip Butler ha dichiarato che lui e sua moglie sono membri del popolo Budawang della nazione Yuin. In un’introduzione al rito aborigeno, Philip Butler ha dichiarato che lui e la sua famiglia fossero orgogliosi di accogliere Justin Stanwix, l’ordinando, nella loro comunità. Ha detto inoltre che le loro canzoni e la loro danza avrebbero chiesto a spiriti, uccelli e animali di “prendersi cura di tutti noi e tenerci al sicuro”.
