No, for the first 300 years of Christianity’s existence, there was no persecution of Jews by Christians – in fact, from AD 30-70, the boot was more likely to be on the other foot, though Caiaphas in the NT makes it clear that Christians were regarded as putting the Jews at risk of a clamp-down by Rome. What happened after that, was that the Emperor Constantine decided to create a nominally Christian, but syncretistic, State religion. Sadly, the Church colluded with this design. For some reason, Constantine, who was not a particularly devout man, hated Judaism. My own guess is that he tried to get them on board with his state religion, and they showed his emissaries the door as soon as they talked about accommodating the Babylonian religion (which is, in fact the foundation of the church year – until then, if Christians kept feasts at all, it was the Jewish ones, just from a different perspective). It is a great tragedy that most of the Reformers did not appear to realise just how much of Constantine’s legacy needed to be overturned.

Paul says of the Jews in Romans 11, 28-29 “as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” So God has not repealed the covenant with Abraham as a result of granting a new one through Jesus. Yes, I believe that the blessings to which I have access through the new covenant are the most desirable – but that doesn’t mean that God has stopped blessing through the covenant he gave first, to the people who have known him the longest. He isn’t that small minded. Plus, one would then have to ask why He would embark on a relationship with a people whose future He already knew, if all He was going to do was to cast them aside, whether in favour of the Christians or the Muslims (your insight is in fact very much applicable to Islamic replacement theology, which is actually part of their texts rather than a perversion of them).
I see persecution of the Jews as part of Constantine’s state church set up, because he was looking to use religion to control people, which meant that any group that differed from the majority was a threat. It is, however, completely wrong that college students have been raised with so little sense of right and wrong that they can be manipulated by Islam.
