The man was arrested on the morning of March 19th around 7:15 a.m. while walking along the main road in the village of Sukawati, in Gianyar Regency. He wasn’t stopped by just any police officers, but by the Pecalang, the traditional Balinese security guards who patrol the island during the holidays, according to the Antara news agency.

The reason? It was Nyepi, the sacred Day of Silence, one of the most important and rigorous celebrations in Balinese Hinduism, often also called Balinese New Year.
