Non si è trattato semplicemente di una parata per l’anniversario; si è trattato di una dichiarazione d’intenti da parte di una coalizione di stati che rifiutano l’ordine guidato dall’Occidente e cercano di sostituirlo con un’alternativa autoritaria.

Considerati nel loro insieme, i raduni rappresentavano la cosa più vicina alla formazione di un nuovo blocco: uno che avrebbe potuto mirare a costruire un ordine mondiale completamente nuovo, definito non dalla democrazia, ma dalla coercizione, dalla censura e dalla forza.

Liquidare questi eventi come mero teatro sarebbe irresponsabile. L’invasione russa dell’Ucraina rappresenta una sfida diretta alla stabilità dell’Europa, una sfida che Iran e Corea del Nord sostengono materialmente. Nonostante le invasioni, la distruzione e l’esilio, gli ebrei non abbandonarono mai la loro patria. Rimasero a Gerusalemme, in Galilea, a Hebron, a Safed e lungo la costa. Le loro preghiere, rituali e feste mantenevano vivo il legame con Sion. Questa non è la storia degli outsider —, è la storia della prima e più duratura nazione del paese.

La storia araba è molto diversa; le loro origini risiedono nella penisola arabica. I primi documenti a nostra disposizione descrivono tribù nomadi in Arabia e nel deserto siriano. I loro centri culturali erano La Mecca, Medina, Yemen e Petra. Fu solo nel VII secolo, con l’ascesa dell’Islam, che gli eserciti arabi esplosero dall’Arabia e conquistarono la regione.

Nel 636 d.C. avevano invaso la Giudea bizantina; nel giro di un secolo governarono dalla Spagna alla Persia. La loro presenza in Giudea fu il risultato della conquista, non della continuità. Per oltre mille anni, sotto gli imperi successivi — Omayyade, Abbaside, Crociato, Mamelucco, Ottomano e infine Britannico —, la popolazione araba locale non si è mai chiamata “Palestinian.”

Si identificavano come arabi, musulmani, cristiani o dalla loro città e clan. Infatti, durante il Mandato britannico, la parola palestinese si riferiva quasi esclusivamente agli ebrei: il Posta Palestina era un giornale ebraico, la Palestine Symphony Orchestra era ebrea e la Brigata Palestinese che combatté nella seconda guerra mondiale era ebrea.

Molti arabi nella regione rifiutarono l’etichetta, insistendo invece sul fatto che facevano parte della grande Siria o della più ampia nazione araba.
Solo a metà del XX secolo, in particolare sotto Yasser Arafat e l’OLP, emerse un’identità “Palestinian” separata. Nacque non da secoli di storia condivisa ma da un bisogno politico: creare una narrazione che potesse sfidare la nazione ebraica e delegittimare Israele. Era, e rimane, uno strumento di guerra con altri mezzi. Questa è la linea di fondo storica: gli ebrei sono le uniche persone con un legame ininterrotto di 3.000 anni con la Terra d’Israele. Il nome Palestina era una punizione romana, non un’eredità araba.

Gli arabi arrivarono nel VII secolo come conquistatori dall’Arabia. L’idea di un popolo palestinese è un’invenzione moderna, forgiata nel XX secolo come parte di una campagna politica contro lo Stato ebraico. Israele non è un progetto coloniale. Il disprezzo di James per Kirk non dovrebbe sorprendere, poiché l’attivista conservatore era un schietto sostenitore di Israele, recandosi nei campus universitari negli Stati Uniti e all’estero per discutere con gli studenti.

Khymani James, organizzatore dell’accampamento della Columbia University, che ha fantasticato sui sionisti assassini, ha celebrato mercoledì l’assassinio di Charlie Kirk e ha chiesto ulteriore violenza.

Un portavoce della Columbia ha detto al Faro libero di Washington, “Incoraggiare la violenza contro gli altri è inaccettabile e non trova posto nel nostro discorso civile.”

James è stato leader e portavoce del Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), il più noto gruppo studentesco antisemita della scuola, durante l’accampamento illegale di tende che ha sconvolto la Columbia alla fine del semestre primaverile del 2024.

Ad un certo punto, ha mobilitato i partecipanti per rimuovere “Zionists” che, secondo lui, è entrato nell’accampamento.

James è stato sospeso dalla Columbia dopo che è emerso un video in cui sosteneva che i funzionari universitari dovrebbero essere “grati dal fatto che non sto semplicemente andando là fuori e uccidendo i sionisti.”

Il CUAD inizialmente denunciò quei commenti, ma in seguito fece marcia indietro, si scusò con James e rilasciò una dichiarazione in cui affermava che “liberazione con ogni mezzo necessario, inclusa la resistenza armata” e “violenza è l’unica strada da seguire.”

James ha ringraziato i suoi “comrades” per le loro “belle e potenti parole e ha detto che non poteva essere più d’accordo con l’approvazione della violenza.

“Non permetterò a nessuno di svergognarmi per la mia politica, ha scritto. “Tutto quello che ho detto, lo intendevo.”

Non è chiaro se James sia stato espulso, ma una persona esperta lo ha detto Faro Libero non è uno studente registrato, è escluso dal campus, non è presente e non è membro attivo della comunità della Columbia dall’aprile 2024.

Il disprezzo di James per Kirk non dovrebbe sorprendere. L’attivista conservatore era un schietto sostenitore di Israele, recandosi nei campus universitari negli Stati Uniti e all’estero per discutere con gli studenti.

Le autorità hanno annunciato giovedì mattina di aver ottenuto riprese video della persona sospettata di aver sparato e ucciso Kirk.

Gli investigatori hanno anche trovato un fucile a ripetizione ad alta potenza nei boschi vicino all’università dello Utah che conteneva munizioni incise con espressioni dell’ideologia transgender e antifascista, il Giornale di Wall Street segnalato. Kirk stava discutendo di sparatorie di massa da parte di aggressori transgender quando è stato assassinato.

He was shot from about 200 yards away, according to a Utah Valley University spokesperson.
