The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has faced years of lawsuits and negative publicity aimed at undermining its work, much of which comes from a single source: the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Despite this, the TSA just awarded CAIR, perhaps its most vocal critic, its annual “Disability and Multicultural Coalitions Award.” Recognized on September 24 “for providing valuable input to TSA on Muslim travelers’ experiences with airport screening,” CAIR currently represents multiple clients who have sued the federal agency. The winner also repeatedly lists the TSA as a top offender in its annual hate crime reports. Anti-Muslim Agency

Created in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, TSA is a federal law enforcement and regulatory agency responsible for protecting America’s mass transportation system, including the country’s highways, railroads, bus lines, and airports. As a subagency of the Department of Homeland Security, TSA works closely with the FBI and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to maintain security in U.S. airspace and terminals.

Year after year, CAIR says these three agencies account for more hate crimes and anti-Muslim bias incidents than any single entity. They contribute more than white nationalists and neo-Nazis, and far more than alleged “Islamophobic” hate groups. According to CAIR, American airports are ground zero for anti-Muslim hate, recording hundreds of incidents each year. Following President Donald Trump’s 2017 travel ban, which initially banned international travel from seven countries known to harbor terrorists, CAIR debuted a hate crime reporting app that allowed Muslim travelers to log discrimination complaints with the click of a button. Fresh from lengthy delays at customs, these visitors were apparently eager to file incidents with CAIR, resulting in nearly 1,000 government bias cases involving the TSA, CBP, and FBI in 2017. Enforcing a government policy that was ultimately upheld by the Supreme Court, DHS agencies committed nearly 35 percent of all CAIR anti-Muslim violations that year. These crimes were grouped into hundreds of nonviolent incidents and a small number of allegedly violent cases. How did we influence the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA) and stop Chat Control? By taking your signatures directly to decision makers, lobbying politicians and informing the public in 12 EU countries about this plan to scan all phone messages, emails, cloud storage… basically everything!

This plan, which the European Commission led by Ursula Von der Leyen has been pushing for over a year, required a two-thirds majority in the JHA.

So we only had to convince a little more than a third of them to oppose Chat Control. And we did it, with your help. The country that turned out to be the decisive one in the end was the Netherlands, where CitizenGO has been campaigning against Chat Control since May 2023. A year and a half of collecting signatures and raising awareness has worked: the Dutch government announced last week that it would not support EU Chat Control. Along with opposition from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Poland and the Czech Republic, we had enough voices to protect your privacy from the EU’s surveillance fantasies. Knowing that they would be defeated in a vote, the biggest supporters of Chat Control simply decided not to have the vote take place. Instead, last Thursday, October 10, there was only a brief and one-sided discussion about it in the EU Justice and Home Affairs Council. Hungarian Interior Minister Sándor Pintér and EU Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson reassured each other that they wanted to push through this plan “because of the horrific crimes committed against children.” No one else was allowed to speak.

No one was allowed to say, for example, that the EU’s Chat Control surveillance system would not protect children from pedophilia at all, as police spokespeople and other experts have repeatedly claimed.

Pintér said he did not want to make any further changes to the wording of the EU Child Sexual Abuse Bill, as Chat Control is officially called. Instead, he wants to continue negotiating until enough EU countries have accepted the current wording.

This wording would allow the EU to analyse all private messages, emails and files sent online. Computer programs would search for images and videos depicting child sexual abuse and automatically send any suspicious files to the police.

Any photo of a child could potentially cause a false alarm, and in the worst case, you could face a criminal investigation because of a family photo.

The wording also contains a fallback clause that would allow the EU to expand this surveillance in the future.

This is what you have been avoiding for now.

However, you and I must remain vigilant in the coming months: ministers did not vote last Thursday, but the Justice and Home Affairs Commissioner (and her boss, Ursula von der Leyen) are just biding their time. As soon as some countries hold elections and there are new governments with a different stance on chat monitoring, Ursula will try again.

We will now keep an eye on Germany, where the upcoming elections in 2025 could see the CDU party return to power. This is the party that originally gave Ursula von der Leyen her political power. The CDU has already attempted to impose similar surveillance measures in Germany and will likely support the EU’s Chat Control. As you may recall, I have spent the last year defending myself against criminal charges arising from my work in defending and promoting our shared values. A few days ago, the public prosecutor announced that they will continue their attempt to prosecute me and will take the case to a higher regional court to overturn my acquittal. They seem absolutely determined to make an example of me and create a legal precedent that allows people to be prosecuted for simply posting memes!

This means another six to eight months (or more) of uncertainty and fear about what the higher court will decide. More sleepless nights, more worries… But I know that I have God on my side… and you with me!

While “hate speech” was a very serious crime in the past, it is now – not only in Germany but also in many other parts of the world – increasingly used against anyone who disagrees with progressive “woke” culture; especially against those who resist the LGBT agenda.

Labeling any statement that the radical left doesn’t like as “hate speech” is having a crippling effect on free speech. As you may recall, I have spent the last year defending myself against criminal charges arising from my work defending and promoting our shared values. I cannot describe how frightening it was to suddenly find myself facing serious criminal charges that usually lead to a prison sentence, simply for posting a meme in the course of my work. You can only imagine the sleepless nights and stress I experienced. I couldn’t believe that in February 2024, the local court in Kulmbach, Germany actually followed the prosecutor’s flawed reasoning, finding me guilty and sentencing me to a fine of 6,000 euros. Of course, we decided to appeal, not only for my sake, but also to defend everyone’s right to freedom of expression, and the hearing was held at the Bayreuth regional court just over a week ago, on Monday, October 7. Common sense prevailed when the judges concluded that I had not committed any hate crime, as efforts by some pedophiles to “normalize” pedophilia as part of the LGBT movement really do exist. Both CitizenGO and I were of course thrilled by this acquittal! However, it didn’t end there.
