In this global drama, at first, the European Commission considered it appropriate not to renew the post of “Special Envoy for the promotion of freedom of religion or belief outside the European Union”. The numbers are disturbing: 21% of Pakistani girls marry before the age of 18, 3% before the age of 15. They are contained in the intervention of the then Commissioner Phil Hogan, in response to the parliamentary question in May on the conversion of 14-year-old Huma Younas.
Beyond the individual case, we of the Observatory on Christianophobia are strongly alarmed by the extreme tolerance with which persecutions against Christians are followed. From afar. From too far away.
Still not having the appointment of the Special Envoy for the Defense of Religious Freedom outside the EU seems to be a further regression, a decision that clearly does not represent the will of European Christians.
