I temi antisemiti e violenti insegnati nelle scuole palestinesi amministrate dall’UNRWA, così come l’impiego di insegnanti legati a organizzazioni terroristiche, hanno contribuito a ispirare l’estremismo che ha portato al massacro di Hamas il 7 ottobre, hanno detto gli esperti a una sottocommissione del Congresso degli Stati Uniti a gennaio. Durante l’udienza, Sheff ha osservato che “almeno” 100 membri di Hamas che hanno perpetrato precedenti atti di terrorismo sono stati istruiti in strutture gestite dall’UNRWA e ha stimato che anche la maggior parte dei terroristi di Hamas che hanno partecipato al massacro del 7 ottobre lo erano. A novembre, la Camera dei Rappresentanti degli Stati Uniti ha approvato una legge che richiederebbe al Segretario di Stato americano di riferire annualmente se il materiale didattico fornito agli studenti palestinesi promuova l’antisemitismo e l’odio verso Israele. Il disegno di legge attende ora l’esame del Senato degli Stati Uniti.

Al-Hawarji ha anche specificamente alluso al rapimento di una “sabaya”, un termine che i jihadisti usano per descrivere le schiave sessuali.

In una registrazione separata citata dal gruppo di controllo, Al-Qek – un altro insegnante di scuola elementare dell’UNRWA e membro della Brigata Rafah della Jihad islamica palestinese (PIJ) – ha celebrato l’infiltrazione in territorio israeliano durante una telefonata ai familiari, dicendo: “Sono dentro! Io sto con gli ebrei”.

Il PIJ, come Hamas, è un gruppo terroristico islamico con sede a Gaza impegnato nella distruzione di Israele e nella morte degli ebrei. I suoi combattenti hanno partecipato al massacro guidato da Hamas il 7 ottobre, in cui 1.200 persone sono state uccise nel sud di Israele e circa 240 altre sono state rapite come ostaggi.

Entrambi gli insegnanti dell’UNRWA hanno usato le loro classi come piattaforme per promuovere l’antisemitismo e il terrorismo, secondo Impact-se. “Questa non è una sorpresa, dato che hanno lavorato in scuole che abitualmente glorificano il jihad e incitano alla violenza”, ha detto il CEO di Impact-se Marcus Sheff in una dichiarazione. “Il fatto che Al-Hawarji e Al-Qek siano stati assunti dall’UNWRA, sostenuti da fondi della comunità internazionale, sottolinea l’imperativo che l’UNRWA è al di là della salvezza e non può svolgere alcun ruolo nell’educazione palestinese”. Le nuove scoperte sono arrivate dopo che Impact-se ha pubblicato un rapporto separato a novembre rivelando che almeno 14 insegnanti delle scuole gestite dall’UNRWA avevano elogiato il pogrom del 7 ottobre nel sud di Israele. Le denunce secondo cui l’UNRWA sta promuovendo l’antisemitismo e il terrorismo non sono nuove.

Un insegnante dell’UNWRA ha festeggiato l’infiltrazione in territorio israeliano durante una telefonata ai familiari, dicendo: “Sono dentro! Io sto con gli ebrei”. Entrambi gli insegnanti lavoravano per l’Agenzia delle Nazioni Unite per il soccorso e l’occupazione (UNRWA), l’agenzia dell’organizzazione globale dedicata esclusivamente ai rifugiati e ai discendenti dei palestinesi fuggiti durante la guerra d’indipendenza israeliana del 1948.

“Abbiamo ostaggi di sesso femminile, ne ho catturata una”, si sente dire Al-Hawarji, che è sia un insegnante di arabo presso la scuola elementare maschile di Deir al-Balah, finanziata dall’UNRWA, sia un membro della Brigata del Campus Centrale di Hamas. “Entreremo nella moschea di Al-Aqsa… hanno compiuto azioni per la liberazione [sic], a Dio piacendo”.
