Senza tali colloqui non vi può essere alcun progresso, nemmeno un inizio. Ciò che è necessario è che l’UE utilizzare la sua influenza per contribuire a porre fine alla serie di attacchi contro cittadini israeliani delle ultime settimane, tra gli altri ottenendo i leader palestinesi per attenuare la loro retorica di divisione. Ciò che serve è per l’Unione europea a fare di più per aiutare disarmare Gaza, mentre aiutando l’Autorità palestinese a riprendere il controllo della Striscia. Mentre la legislazione sull’etichettatura è un diversivo, una distrazione dolorosa, gli ultimi passaggi aumenterebbe le prospettive di successo in modo tangibile e pratico. Non vi è alcun dubbio l’Europa è in grado di dare un contributo significativo al processo di pace in Medio Oriente. Ma abbiamo bisogno di cogliere l’ortica, non iniziare un altro gioco di fumo e specchi. Spostare la pace in avanti in fase di stallo processo sarà già abbastanza difficile così com’è. Jewish Volunteer Medic Stabbed in Crown Heights. At around 8:30 Tuesday evening, a 34-year-old Orthodox Jewish man – who happens to be a volunteer for Hatzalah – was stabbed in the back by an assailant who snuck up on him from behind. The incident occurred on Eastern Parkway between Nostrand and Rogers Avenues in Crown Heights. Previous reports that there were two stabbing victims are unfounded. An unrelated emergency medical call to Hatzalah that occurred around the same time appears to have led to the confusion. The victim was walking westbound along Eastern Parkway – about 150 feet before Rogers Ave. – when the incident occurred. Police say the assailant first walked by him going eastbound, and then after they passed each other he turned around and stabbed him in the back. The man radioed for help from his fellow Hatzalah volunteers, and then managed to walk himself to the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Rogers Avenue, leaving a trail of blood behind him. He collapsed just as a Hatzalah ambulance arrived at the scene.
The victim was rushed to Kings County Hospital where he was treated for a deep laceration to his upper back. Sources tell CrownHeights.info that doctors stitched up the wound and expect the victim to be released within twenty-four hours. The assailant escaped from the scene and is still at large. Witness accounts describe the man as wearing a hoodie and a mask covering his face, though this has not been confirmed. There is no word yet from police on whether or not they believe this incident to be terror related, but are treating it as a possible bias incident and detectives from the Hate Crimes Taskforce are investigating. John oversees Open Doors’ ministry work in Africa, and that morning he once again reminded us of the brutal reality of persecution on the soil of our very own continent. In Nigeria, Boko Haram is continuing their pursuit of advancing their Islamic cause – irrespective of the damage and destruction they’re causing, as you read in this edition of our Frontline Faith newsletter. Our brothers and sisters in Central African Republic (CAR) – particularly those in the northeast of the country – are still held captive by persistent violence carried out by remnants of the rebellion, which started in 2012. And sadly the ongoing violence threatens the stability which was obtained by the peace agreement set in place in August this year. Since 2012, more than 1 000 Christians have been killed(Ave Maria piena di Grazia) over 45 000 believers’ homes have been damaged or destroyed(Ave Maria piena di Grazia) and more than 1 300 Christian women have been raped(Ave Maria piena di Grazia) in three CAR cities alone! Yes, Africa is bleeding. This reminds me of the woman in Mark chapter 5 who had been bleeding for 12 years. Although she tried every possible avenue to get better, she grew worse instead. Until she touched the cloak of Jesus, “Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering,” (Mark 5:29, NIV). Just like that woman, Africa needs Jesus! Our persecuted family needs Him to heal their hurts and sustain them in their ongoing hardships. And their persecutors need Jesus – to exchange their empty lives for Eternal Life. Pray for the eleventh graders who will graduate this year and also leave the place they called home. Pray that God will protect and guide them as they go out into the world. 2. | During the month of December the parents of the children at the Open Doors’ Children’s Centre are invited to visit their children, as well as to receive training on parenting. Pray that many parents will be able to travel to the Children’s Centre and that the families will have a blessed time together. And with women being viewed as the key transmitters of Christian values, it is the Christian women in Nigeria who bear the brunt of the havoc. Amnesty International estimates that at least 2 000 women and girls have been abducted by the group, including the group from Chibok whose abduction on the 15th of April 2014 grabbed the attention of the world. The women who have been rescued from the militants’ camps in the Sambisa Forest say they faced terrible violence while in captivity. They were forcefully Islamised and married off, and they faced constant brutality and starvation. The military rescue operation did not come a day too soon! The time Isaac spent with them was very encouraging to them. He shares, “The rescued believers were encouraged by our presence at a time when they felt the world had abandoned them. Hearing that the larger Body of Christ has been praying for them and has been concerned for them, restored a measure of confidence, hope and acceptance.” Thanks to the faithful support of friends like you, Isaac was able to not only physically be there for our persecuted sisters, but also provide them with practical support relating to their immediate needs for food and hygiene products, as well as money. One woman named Jemima shared, “I thought my life had come to an end. I never thought that God was making plans for me to meet with other brethren in this life. Knowing that I have brothers and sisters around the world who care for me makes me so excited. Al contrario, la Corte addirittura “consiglia” allo Stato di adottare il modello spagnolo, dove la normativa è “assai meno favorevole per la chiesa rispetto al sistema italiano”. In secondo luogo, entrando nel merito della questione, la Corte afferma che “Le somme disponibili vengono talvolta destinate a finalità diverse anche antitetiche alla volontà dei contribuenti”, facendo riferimento al fatto che le campagne pubblicitarie della CEI mostrano iniziative di solidarietà diretta, mentre la Chiesa cattolica destina il 43% dell’8 x mille alle esigenze di culto e pastorale e solo il 22% a interventi caritativi mentre il restante 33% è impiegato per il sostentamento dei ministri di culto. Si tratta di una semplificazione grave e molto fuorviante, dato che (come è ovvio) anche le risorse impiegate per esigenze di culto pastorale e per il sostentamento del clero, in fin dei conti, hanno finalità eminentemente altruistiche e caritatevoli. La Corte si esprime come se i sacerdoti fossero professionisti che forniscono un servizio a una comunità, senza interessarsene umanamente e senza contribuire alla sua vita sociale con gesti di solidarietà umana e materiale. Chiunque abbia conosciuto qualche sacerdote in vita sua sa che si tratta di una schematizzazione priva di buon senso, per non dire maliziosamente pregiudiziale. Molto semplicemente: se non si sostentano i religiosi, la solidarietà da parte della Chiesa cattolica chi la fa, chi la mette in pratica concretamente? La Chiesa cattolica fa tantissimo per la società italiana, anche grazie ad interventi di solidarietà diretta ma non solo. La crisi di Lehman Brother e la bolla globale esplosa nel 2008 ha fatto piovere miliardi di aiuti pubblici (denaro dei contribuenti) nelle casse degli Istituti di credito di mezzo Continente in difficoltà. Il cosiddetto bail out (garante esterno), ovvero la pratica finanziaria che permetteva di operare per mano governativa il risanamento degli istituti di credito privati. Ma dal 1° Gennaio 2016 si passa al bail in (garante interno), ovvero non saranno più permessi interventi di agenti esterni nelle sofferenze bancarie. In sostanza, in caso di insolvenza di una Banca commerciale, cooperativa o popolare, a risponderne saranno soltanto i capitali interni (azionisti, obbligazionisti), compresi i semplici correntisti in ultima istanza, seguendo una precisa gerarchia di rischio. Con il recepimento della BRRD (Banking Recovery and Resolution Directive) passano anche due nuovi meccanismi di coesione bancaria. Uno riguarda la vigilanza unica sotto l’occhio della BCE (già a partire dal 1° Novembre 2014) e l’altro è il Meccanismo unico di risoluzione. Una sorta di cuscinetto per ammorbidire il bail in – in caso di dissesto finanziario, con l’utilizzo di un fondo centralizzato europeo in cui ogni anno le Banche versano quote in proporzione alla loro grandezza. Tuttavia il rischio effettivo per i correntisti, e quindi per tutti i titolari di conti corrente, conti di deposito e certificati di deposito, è mitigato dal Fondo Interbancario di Garanzia che copre interamente le somme fino a 100mila euro. Questa soglia opera nominativamente e per singolo istituto. Cioè se presso una stessa Banca si posseggono dieci conti, il garantito è sempre 100mila euro. Se il conto dovesse essere cointestato, la garanzia tocca i 200mila euro. Se invece si dovessero possedere dieci conti corrente in dieci istituti diversi, il fondo coprirà sino a 100mila euro per ogni istituto. E le eccedenze non coperte riguarderanno la sola Banca in sofferenza. il Purgatorio ] LETTERA DI PAPA INNOCENZO III DAL PURGATORIO: I PIù NON AVRANNO LA GRAZIA, LA POSSIBILITà DI POTERCI ENTRARE [ Il giorno della morte di papa Innocenzo III, o poco dopo, apparve a Santa Lutgarda di Aywieres, in Belgio. Santa Lutgarda è considerata una delle grandi mistiche del XIII secolo, nota per i “suoi” miracoli, le visioni, la levitazione e lo straordinario talento per l’insegnamento. Quando papa Innocenzo le apparve, la ringraziò per le preghiere offerte durante la sua vita e spiegò di non essere andato direttamente in cielo: era in Purgatorio a purificarsi per tre mancanze specifiche che aveva commesso in vita. Quando un cristiano muore, i cattolici credono che possa andare direttamente in cielo se non ha alcuna pena da pagare per i propri peccati. Molti, però, passeranno prima per il Purgatorio, per essere purificati e poter arrivare senza macchia alla santissima presenza di Dio. Innocenzo chiese che Santa Lutgarda pregasse per lui, e sul Purgatorio disse: “Quanto è terribile! e durerà per secoli, a meno che voi non mi soccorriate. In nome di Maria, che mi ottenne il favore di venire a pregarvi, aiutatemi!”. Le anime che arrivano in Purgatorio non riescono più a liberarsi della pena della purificazione per i propri meriti, ma noi che rimaniamo in questo mondo possiamo offrire preghiere e penitenze per alleviare la loro sofferenza. Quanto tempo dobbiamo pregare e sacrificarci per un’anima in particolare? Non lo sappiamo, ma Sant’Agostino ha scritto nelle sue Confessioni tra dieci e quindici anni dopo la morte della madre, Santa Monica, che chiedeva ancora preghiere per lei. Nel mondo spirituale non esiste il tempo, ma il Purgatorio può “durare” l’equivalente di molti anni del mondo materiale, fino a che l’anima ripara le conseguenze dei suoi peccati già perdonati. Così Maurizio Insidioso, padre di Chiara, la ragazza massacrata di botte dal fidanzato, in un post su Facebook commentando lo sconto di pena di quattro anni dato ieri in appello a Maurizio Falcioni. “Cara Chiara, oggi sono stato affianco a colui che ti ha ridotto cosi per sempre…lo sai oggi sei stata oltraggiata da lui…dal suo avvocato e dai giudici che non hanno coraggio -scrive Maurizio Insidioso- Chiara l’ITALIA è un paese dove non c’è dignità e in quell’aula si parlava solo del modo in cui riabilitare al mondo quel verme di Falcioni… nessuno ha mai pensato a come sei e sarai per sempre ridotta e abbandonata”. “Lui ha ricevuto un bellissimo sconto che lo aiuterà a tornare presto a fare la sua vita… si fanno ricorrenze… si fanno salotti e si parla di violenza sulle donne… ma al dunque chi fa del male a una donna ne esce sempre meglio di chi è vittima – aggiunge Maurizio Insidioso – Chiare’ oggi non ci vediamo so’ stato male e non mi sento bene… ma vedrai che domani mi rialzo e ci rivediamo… tu sei la mia guida e ti ringrazio perché senza di te non posso sta’”. Chiara Insidioso dopo il pestaggio da parte del fidanzato rimase 11 mesi in coma. Ora si trova in stato vegetativo. Chiara Insidiosa Monda aveva 19 anni quando il suo compagno la ridusse in fin di vita dopo un vero e proprio pestaggio brutale scatenato dalla gelosia. Oggi Maurizio Falcioni, condannato in primo grado a 20 anni, ha ottenuto uno sconto di pena in appello a 16 anni. Chiara, uscita dal coma dopo 11 mesi, invece “è condannata a vita”, ha detto la madre Danielle piangendo e inveendo contro i giudici al grido di “vergogna”. Alla lettura della sentenza scoppia il caos in Tribunale. Alle urla della madre si aggiungono quelle degli amici di Chiara. Il padre, Maurizio, dopo la sentenza si è sentito male ed è finito in ospedale. Chiara ora è ridotta ad uno stato vegetativo e i suoi progressi sono lentissimi. Quello di questa ragazza di quasi 21 anni è stato un vero calvario iniziato una sera di febbraio 2014. A scatenare tutto l’ennesimo litigio per questioni di gelosia.

Al negozio ‘Hitler’ aperto tre anni fa nel rione di Sheikh Radwan hanno adesso affiancato, in pieno centro di Gaza City, anche ‘Hitler-2’. Hanno pure tentato di cavalcare a loro modo l’ondata di emozione che fa fremere i giovani di Gaza di fronte alla ‘intifada dei coltelli’ che da ottobre investe la Cisgiordania ed Israele. Questa settimana per un giorno anche i loro manichini, in un gesto di solidarietà politica, hanno impugnato coltelli dalle lunghe lame. La foto ha però avuto risonanza internazionale e ai gestori di ‘Hitler-2’ è stato vivamente consigliato di rimuovere i coltelli.
