One correction. While Ethiopia had \”beach-front\” when I lived there, now with Eritrea a nation, it ain\’t got none. Not sure how they could/would interract with Somalia, at least not as far as borders are concerned unless you mean surrendering areas of our Empire with large Somali populations; but unlike the Oromo, they have not been particularly avid. Also, what about Puntland; would they be totally separated from Somalia [whose five stars include one for that region, as well as all of Djibouti.

Its Morning almost in Canada here. I got up to see the comet but its overcast, so no joy.
When I mentioned Druze in passing I was speaking of the people who follow the religion. Some people in Israel are Druze and even serve in the IDF. While I don\’t agree with their adoption of parts of Islam but the fact that they sort of smoosh several regions into one may could serve as a Liberal Muslim transition. I am Christian, so I am just throwing darts at a board hoping one would stick not saying I agree with what they did as a religion. I consider myself more like a unhatted Hassidic with Jesus as my Rabi. When I look at my Christianity, I consider myself not my own. The Druze in a way lose a bit of Identity in sharing parts of peoples faith and in that way are more accommodating. So while i think that is sort of wish washy I also can see that accommodation as selflessness. It might even be a type of purity. not that I agree with any theology other than Christian Evangelicalism.

I know I was all over the place with my thoughts But if Israel can go from being at war with Jordan to almost getting along, If Some how Lebanon can even have the type of governance they have without exploding is beyond me, and so, If these things are possible then some sort of agreement might be pencil-ed on a paper behind doors and handed out as an Idea ahead of any serious proposal so that they could see a map and get their heads around it first before ever meeting for such talks. If there was even a slightest agreement you would know by their reaction toward getting rid of Syria.

Turkey seems to have a big interest in Syria and more Ethics then Assad and a real willingness to oppose him. If Turkey wanted to stay in Nato and could be a part of a middle east peace process They could help make it happen rather than push against it. Their ties with Russia and Iran while opposing Syria and Assad makes the idea more palatable. Russia seems to be a trouble maker in all of it. They seem to end up on the wrong side of things. Turkey also seems to be willing to sort things out with Israel behind the scenes.

Jordan also has some cause to toss Syria to the wolves and would benefit from adding land to their country. Having a border with Lebanon would come with the addition of some good land.

The same could be said for Iraq gaining land along the Euphrates River. If only Iraq and Jordan would accommodate Saudi Arabia gaining a sliver to connect in a point at Palmyra so that Turkey and Saudi Arabia could have a border town. There is lot of land to divide up and as long as the smaller states like Israel and Lebanon then Jordan gain the most I think it would be fair.
