Anche se, nel giugno 1940, Pio XII abbozza un altro passo in favore della pace (p. 68); anche se, nel marzo 1943, Pio XII si astiene dal richiamare il Nunzio Orsenigo, nonostante la sua poca fermezza (pp. 162-163); anche se tace davanti ai massacri dei Giudei (p. 129), questo, per Friedlander, sarà visto sempre come un segno della sua fobia contro il comunismo. Egli, poi, trova « difficile da interpretare » dei termini, che pure sono semplici, come quelli le « esagerazioni ai fini della propaganda », che spaventa il Papa nelle informazioni degli Alleati sulle atrocità dei nazisti (p. 128). (E questo, secondo Friedlander, sarebbe un « at tenersi il più possibile ai documenti »!). Le sue conclusioni, poi, sono infarcite di « può essere » e di « probabili ». Insomma, il non aver lui neppur visto alcun documento vaticano, non può essere preso sul serio da nessun serio studioso di storia! Le sue supposizioni gratuite e le sue personali interpretazioni non possono essere « Storia ». Il suo « Pio XII e il III Reich », quindi, è un\’opera ibrida; non è un\’analisi scientifica di documenti (che, del resto, neppure l\’Autore pretende!), e neppure una sintesi personale (che Friedlander non vuole!), ma un vero mosaico di testi arbitrariamente scelti, tradotti con faciloneria e corredati di commenti in cui l\’immaginazione ha sostituito la critica. Quando, nel 1958, Pio XII moriva, in tutto il mondo si levò un coro di lodi universali. Appena cinque anni dopo, invece, nel 1963, la sua memoria veniva ovunque denigrata e infamata. « Come la moda fa il bello — direbbe Pascal — così fa la giustizia ». Ma chi aveva cambiato la « moda », macchiando Pio XII, se non la cricca massonico-marxista? E, di conseguenza, contro la Filosofia, la Scienza, il Diritto, la Morale, l\’Insegnamento, le Arti, la Stampa; erano principalmente contro la Religione, la quale è il centro e l\’anima di tutte queste attività dello spirito. È per questo che Pio XII ebbe a dire « con estrema energia che la Chiesa darà questa battaglia, in cui sono in gioco i valori supremi dignità dell\’uomo e salute eterna! ». La causa dell\’uomo, cioè, è indissolubilmente legata alla causa di Dio. Per questo, la segreta Sovversione ha ingaggiato un\’offensiva all\’ultimo sangue.
