Amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf, Britain warned the Islamic Republic on Monday not to persist with provocations under the misapprehension that the U.S. would not strike back.
Britain told Iran on Monday not to underestimate the resolve of the United States, warning that if American interests were attacked then the administration of President Donald Trump would retaliate.
“I would say to the Iranians: Do not underestimate the resolve on the US side,” Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt told reporters on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
“They don’t want a war with Iran. But if American interests are attacked, they will retaliate. And that is something that the Iranians need to think about very, very carefully.”

CON IL PATROCINIO DEL COMUNE
L’esposizione sacrilega, che sarà aperta al pubblico fino al 24 febbraio, ha ricevuto il patrocinio del Comune di Massa guidato dal sindaco leghista Francesco Persiani, ed è stata inaugurata alla presenza del vicesindaco Guido Mottini e dell’assessore alla cultura Eleonora Lama.
Veneziano ha spiegato così il “senso” del suo dipinto blasfemo, specificando di aver messo in conto le critiche che (speriamo) gli pioveranno addosso dalla Chiesa e dai fedeli cattolici oltraggiati:
«Per me gli uomini e le donne sono tutti uguali e a me non importa che orientamento sessuale hanno. Mi aspetto critiche dalla chiesa. Mentre dipingevo questo quadro sapevo che avrei fatto irritare qualcuno, ma l’arte non si può permettere di rappresentare solo tramonti o fiorellini».
Il curatore Ivan Quaroni ha sottolineato come l’intenzione dell’autore sia quella di suscitare una riflessione nello spettatore attraverso un provocazione “artistica” mista di sacro e profano:
«Le sue storie sono sempre aperte a molteplici interpretazioni. Attraverso l’immediata riconoscibilità di un soggetto che gioca sull’antinomia realtà/finzione, coniugando sacro e profano, figure storiche e personaggi dei cartoon, citazione colta e immaginario consumistico tipico della Pop Art, Veneziano provoca lo spettatore facendo uso di sottile ironia per indurre una seria riflessione sulla società in cui viviamo».
“POP ART” A SENSO UNICO
Siamo alle solite. Veneziano ha scelto di percorrere la strada più rapida e scontata per guadagnarsi un pò di notorietà ed oggi, è noto, una delle vie privilegiate è quella di oltraggiare i simboli e le figure religiose cattoliche per eccellenza, Cristo e la Madonna. Offendere la Chiesa cattolica è oggi infatti lo sport che va per la maggiore. A tale proposito, invitiamo l’artista siciliano a distinguersi dalla massa e a fare qualcosa di nuovo e veramente provocatorio: faccia la sua ironica “pop art” sull’Islam e il suo profeta, certamente ne verrà fuori una seria ed interessante riflessione.
