Per cui ti esorto a esaminarti per vedere se sei nella fede! Come puoi capire che sei nella fede? Se a questa domanda: «Credi tu nell’Evangelo di Cristo?», puoi rispondere, «Sì, io credo che Gesù di Nazareth è il Cristo, che è morto per i nostri peccati, secondo le Scritture, che fu seppellito, che risuscitò dai morti il terzo giorno, secondo le Scritture, e che apparve ai suoi discepoli», perché questo è l’Evangelo di Cristo che ci hanno trasmesso gli apostoli per ordine di Cristo (cfr. 1 Corinzi 15:1-11), e che “è potenza di Dio per la salvezza d’ogni credente; del Giudeo prima e poi del Greco; poiché in esso la giustizia di Dio è rivelata da fede a fede, secondo che è scritto: Ma il giusto vivrà per fede” (Romani 1:16-17).
Per cui se hai creduto in questa Parola sei salvato dai tuoi peccati e giustificato. E lo Spirito di Dio abita in te e ti attesta tutto ciò. Essendo nella fede quindi hai la certezza che se morissi in questo momento, moriresti in Cristo e quindi la tua anima andrebbe in cielo ad abitare con il Signore, secondo che è scritto: “Noi siamo dunque sempre pieni di fiducia, e sappiamo che mentre abitiamo nel corpo, siamo assenti dal Signore (poiché camminiamo per fede e non per visione); ma siamo pieni di fiducia e abbiamo molto più caro di partire dal corpo e d’abitare col Signore” (2 Corinzi 5:6-8). E questo perché “chi crede ha vita eterna” (Giovanni 6:47). Ed hai anche la certezza che parteciperai alla resurrezione dei giusti, che avverrà quando Cristo apparirà dal cielo (cfr. Atti 24:15; 1 Tessalonicesi 4:16). D’altronde “la fede è certezza di cose che si sperano” (Ebrei 11:1), e tu hai la fede, per grazia di Dio!
Ma sappi che se non puoi rispondere nella sopra citata maniera, allora non sei nella fede, e quindi sei schiavo del peccato e l’ira di Dio è sopra di te perché sei un suo nemico nella tua mente e nelle tue opere malvagie, e perciò se tu morissi in questo momento te ne andresti in perdizione, cioè nelle fiamme dell’inferno (cfr. Luca 16:23-24), e a suo tempo parteciperai alla resurrezione degli ingiusti, che sarà una resurrezione di condanna perché coloro che vi parteciperanno saranno giudicati secondo le loro opere e gettati nel fuoco eterno dove saranno tormentati per l’eternità (cfr. Atti 24:15; Apocalisse 20:12-15).
Non ti senti dunque salvato dai tuoi peccati, giustificato da Dio e non puoi dire di avere la vita eterna? Ciò significa che non sei nella fede, perché non hai creduto nell’Evangelo di Cristo! Ravvediti dunque e credi nell’Evangelo.
