Every
citizen has to be Muslim on these remote islands. The Maldivian
government views itself as the protector and defender of Islam and
enjoys full support by its citizens. Churches are forbidden, evangelism
is banned and the import of Christian literature is prohibited.
Believers hide their faith from their families and, when discovered, are
pressured to convert to Islam. In October, a foreign Christian teacher
was imprisoned for 15 days and then deported after police found a Bible
in his house.

Pray:

• For the few indigenous Christians to have courage amidst the secrecy
• Many young people seek education outside the islands. Pray that they would have the opportunity to hear the gospel
• Maldivian society contends with huge social problems of drug and
  alcohol abuse, marriage breakdown and child abuse. Pray that people will
  discover God’s forgiveness.

   unrest. Pray that Christ will be the victor and be glorified. Pray for
   the very recently resigned President for his safety and protection and
   that the people will find a level of moderation and character to walk
   through this next stage in their countries journey

2. Dear Lord, I pray for this small
   island and it’s peopole. Please help the Christians to be able to
   worship you freely without fear of imprisonment., I pray they will be
   able to have your Word and read it. I pray also that those whgo go to
   study will come to know You as Saviour and Lord. Please helpo them , the
   people, that they reuly need You and all the crime of family unrest,
   etc. will be dissolved if people are loving You and following You.We
   know that Christ died for everyone. We trust that the doors will be
   opened so that these people may know and love Yoiu and experience Your
   salvation and peace in their lives. In Jesus name Amen

3. We thank You, Father, for the
   opportunity to come to Your Throne this morning for the people of
   Maldives. As Your Word commands, we come to You with boldness and
   confidence that our prayers will be answered. Thank You for protecting a
   small number of believers in Maldives; we know what You can grown from
   just one seed. We pray the believers will remain strong in their faith
   and that the Spirit comforts and encourages them. We pray for the
   persecutors; that they will come to know Your Son and accept Him as
   their personal Savior. We pray for the government, the ousted
   president, and the new leadership, that they will turn from their path
   and that they and all the lost in their country will come to the Lord.
   We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

4. Lord, I come to You this morning on
   behalf of the country of the Maldives. I pray firstly today just as
   Abraham interceded for the people of Sodom – that You would spare this
   nation because of the few godly people that live in it. There are few
   Christians in this land, but Your people still live there – and I ask
   that You would move on their behalf and for their sake, and bless them
   and this land that belongs to You.
   I pray first for each and every Christian who lives in the Maldives. I
   pray for your supernatural wisdom, boldness and strength for each one.
   You may desire that some of them serve You in prison, and others serve
   You in their own homes. Protect those who You desire to stay outside of
   prison so that Your plans cannot be hindered. For those You have
   chosen to suffer for You in prison, please grant them Your peace and
   strength today. When they question, reassure them with Your great love.
   Touch their hearts by Your Spirit today. Encourage their families
   that are separated from them. Give them wisdom in who to speak to and
   who not to speak to. Direct their steps and keep them safe.

   I also pray for those who are given the opportunity to leave the
   Maldives for education purposes or for any reason. I pray that they
   would be given the opportunity to hear Your truth and Your gospel
   outside of their land in a safe way – and that they could then take it
   back inside the land and become one of the believers I just prayed for.
   I pray that You would create opportunities for each Maldivian to hear
   the preaching of Your Word if they are able to go outside the country,
   and that You would give them the faith they need to be able to respond.
   Finally, I pray for the country itself and all of the people who live in
   it regardless of their religious background. There are so many
   societal problems and abuses there – this country needs a touch from
   You. Please go to them and work in each life – draw each heart to You
   in some way – so that they will realize that they don’t need the drugs
   or alcohol and that they don’t need to harm another person. I know that
   none of these things are possible without people knowing You – but I
   ask that You would have mercy on the people who are bound by these
   destructive ways.
   Please create opportunities for Mslms to come to know You in this
   country, through whoever and by whatever means necessary. In Jesus’
   name, amen.
