About
two-thirds of the people in this tiny Islamic nation are ethnic Malays.
Although in theory all other religions may be practiced in peace, in
practice only non-Malays are allowed to choose their faith. If a Malay
converts, this ‘disturbs peace and harmony’ and they are automatically
scheduled for re-education to Islam. The monitoring of Christian
meetings increased in 2011. In October, the Sultan announced the
introduction of an Islamic Criminal Law which will complicate the
situation for the Christian minority further, especially those known to
have converted.

Pray:

• That the proposed Criminal Law will not be introduced
• Religious instruction in all schools, including the six Christian schools, is in Islam. Pray for wisdom for Christian parents
• Restrictions on the importing of Christian materials make Bibles and
  Christian literature difficult to obtain. Pray that Christians will
  have access to God’s Word.

1. Lord God thank You for hearing and
   responding to my prayer. I pray for support and encouragement for the
   Christians in Brunei. I don’t know why it is Brunei that has attracted
   my attention, maybe because so little is known or publicized about it.
   But I want to intercede for those Christians there and do what I can to
   help them and to bring the light of Christ to Brunei, a nation darkened
   by the oppression of Islam.

   Lord I pray by the authority that Christ has imputed to me as a born
   again believer, a command that that Islamic Criminal Law is defeated
   NOW, and that those who are proposing it will experience a peculiar
   desire to accommodate and be kind to Christians beginning NOW.

   Lord I pray by the authority of Your name Jesus that Christian schools will flourish and Islamic schools will become unpopular.

   Lord I pray by the authority of Your name Jesus that doors will be
   open, ways will be made, even supernaturally, for the importation of
   Bibles to Christians who are hungry for God’s word and for those who
   have not experienced your forgiveness and grace.

   In Jesus’ mighty and more-than-overcoming name above all names, may it be Amen.

7. Dear Heavenly Father, I want to lift
   up the requests that were stated for these blessed people. First, Lord, I
   want to ask you to please protect them from anything that may bring
   them harm or hinder them from worshipping you. Please hold them fast and
   keep them strong, building them up in their faith that would be so
   evident to those who don’t know you that they will want to know you! I
   pray that the proposed criminal law will not be introduced
   or win approval. I pray for wisdom for Christian parents as their
   children are indoctrinated in Islam as to how to share and maintain a
   TRUE faith in you, Lord Jesus! And I pray that all
   restrictions on the importing of Christian materials will be lifted and
   not effect any access that Christians have to your Holy Word. Heavenly
   Father, you are soveriegn and we know that you work everything to the
   good of those who love you. Please hold their hearts fast in this
   knowledge. Help them to persevere, and may those whom they encounter
   also come to a saving faith in you, Lord Jesus! Amen.

   We have such an abundance of your word, yet don’t always take the time
   to read it. I pray for an abundance of your word to reach the hands and
   hearts of the Christians in Brunei. And please protect them from the

    introduced, let it be seen as not peaceful. I pray for the Christian
    schools, the teachers, the children and their parents – for protection,
    courage, wisdom, and guidance. I pray that the restrictions regarding
    importing the Bible and other Christian literature will be lifted so
    that all may have access to the truth. I also want to pray for the
    Muslims there, that they may start coming to You through Jesus Christ!

    moment the Kingdom of Brunei wants there to be harmony within the
    religions established there and it is good news. Yet the potential
    exists with establish Islamic criminal law within it’s system, thus
    endangering the lives and future of many who want to reach the natives
    with Your Word. Let this change be delayed as much as possible. Build a
    impenetrable hedge of protection around Your people in that extremely
    wealthy nation. Lord, give dreams of You to the Sultan and leaders

    the living God. Open doors through the Holy Spirit power that comes

    today on behalf of the believers in Brunei. Lord, I am thankful that the
    situation for religious freedom is currently better than a lot of other
    nations. However, that is being threatened right now with the
    introduction of the Islamic Criminal Law. Lord, I ask that You soften
    these leaders hearts so that they strike down this law so that the
    freedom of religion is not even more stifled in Brunei. Lord, I also
    pray for the Christian schools that must indoctrinate young children in
    Islam despite the fact that they are Christian schools. Lord, help the
    parents of these children step up to be the spiritual guides and leaders
    in their homes so that Your truth may prevail and permeate these young
    hearts. Lord, I pray for the restrictions on importing Christian
    materials and Bibles. Lord, please let these bans be lifted. Also, for
    the materials that are currently available, I ask that You multiply them
    so that every yearning heart has access to Your Word. For those that do
    not physically have Your Word in their hands, Lord, write Your Word on
    their hearts! Please continue to bless Open Doors and other ministries
    like it that work despite the risks to reach the indigenous peoples in
    Brunei as well as all the countries on this list! May they produce much
    fruit! Lord, I also thank You for the small church in this country and
    ask that You continue to grow it! Pour out Your Holy Spirit on this
    country so that many more are saved! Your Will Be Done! In Jesus’s

    pray for your children who are facing persecution and oppression in the
    nation of Brunei.

21. Lord, I join my voice this morning
    together with all those praying for the nation of Brunei. I pray first
    and foremost for Your will to be done in this nation and for You to
    answer all prayers in the manner that will most glorify Your name.

    I pray this morning that the proposed Criminal Law would NOT be
    allowed to become law in Brunei. I pray that You would do whatever is
    necessary in the hearts of the lawmakers or by whatever means to keep it
    from being passed.

    I pray for every single Christian family in the country that has
    children. I pray for Your wisdom to be given to those parents in terms
    of when and how to share the gospel with their children. I pray that
    Holy Spirit present in their homes would be strong enough to keep ANY
    indoctrination from being planted in the hearts of the children – even
    if they are receiving instruction at their schools, please help their
    hearts to stay turned towards You. Keep them when they cannot keep
    themselves.

    I also pray that no restrictions imposed by the government would
    deter Your Word from just running throughout Brunei. Grant wisdom and
    favor to those who are willing to spread Your truth – and raise up more
    who are willing to take Your Word all over Brunei and get it into the
    hands of those living in darkness.

    I’m grateful for what You are doing in Brunei even though I don’t
    know the half of it. Thank You for hearing these prayers and for doing
    even more to save the people of Brunei!

22. Father, thank You for protecting and
    providing for believers in Brunei through Open Doors and other
    ministries. I pray that the new believers who are being raised up will
    grow strong in the Spirit and will have access to Your Word so that they
    can continue to grow. I pray for those who risk their lives to bring
    Bibles and Christian literature into the country; protect them from the
    evil one and help them to share their faith boldly, even in the midst of
    great danger. I pray that Your peace would surround all of the
    believers in Brunei and that You would preserve their faith as they face
    governmental opposition. Give the parents wisdom on how to disciple
    their children even as they are learning about the Islam in their
    schools. I pray that the government would not pass any more restrictive
    laws that would discriminate against Christians, but, most of all, I
    pray that You would glorify Yourself as Your children stand strong in
    the midst of these struggles. Give them strength and help them to stand
    against the flaming arrows of the evil one. He is our real enemy, so
    give us and our brothers and sisters in Brunei strength to pray, read
    Your Word, and share the Gospel even when we are in danger. You have
    promised to never leave us or forsake us, and I pray that this truth
    would provide overwhelming comfort and courage to the believers in
    Brunei. Thank You for Your goodness and Your grace that You have
    bestowed upon wretched sinners like us!

    Too often I become to comfortable in my faith and take it for granted
    when my brothers and sisters around the world are struggling and do not
    have the same freedom to worship you that I do. Thank You Lord for Your
    unending faithfulness and for loving all of Your children with a
    passionate and fervent love. Please be with my brothers and sisters in
    the country of Brunei. Allow me to share in their suffering and to do
    what I can for them, but Lord there are only some things that You can do
    and I pray that You provide for them in the way that only you can. I
    plead that the new Criminal Law is not passed and put into effect. Lord,
    please move the legislators to strike down this law, even if they are
    in favor of it. Is anything too hard for You LORD? You laugh at those
    who oppose You! Let us join in such a laugh as we see you block this
    law! Please also open a door for Christians to receive Bibles and
    Christian literature without trouble. God please do this because we
    cannot help ourselves, please fight the battles we cannot win. God we
    give this whole situation into Your hands and we honestly praise You for
    Your awesome love!! We love You Daddy and we thank You for all that You

    Criminal Law with no effect. We ask you Lord for wisdom and protection
    for the Christians in this Land. We declare open doors for your Word.
    We declare that they become so hungry for you Lord that they wide open
    the doors for Bibles and instructive materials for them to know more
    about you. We declare that Brunei becomes full of the knowledge of You
    almighty God, of your precious son Jesus and of your precious Holy

    country who while in the past has tolerated Christianity, seems to be
    going in the path of so many other such countries. Please give
    Christian wisdom to parents. Help places like Open Doors with the
    ability to bring Bibles and other resources to the Christians in this
    country. Touch the leaders of this country, that people living here may
    truly have freedom of choice of religion. Help them to turn away the
    Criminal Law. Please be with and strengthen our brothers and sisters in
    this country and help them to know that people all around the world are
    praying for them and that they are in Your hands Lord.
