I come to you in prayer this evening for the people of Azerbaijan. We
know that all is in Your hands. Thank you Lord, that although the
persecution of Christians in this country continues, that the number of
believers continues to grow. Lord, when it comes to worshipping You and
believing in your life, death, and resurrection, that no man can stop
Your Word from continuing to spread. Be with the churches and church
leaders as they are continually watched by the authorities. Lord, as
they are being watched, touch the hearts of the watchers that Your Word
and love may penetrate their hearts. Keep Your people in this country
in Your arms and please let them know that people around the world are
praying for them, and that our hearts and love go out to them. It will
be as Your will, oh Lord.

omniscient God and I praise You for that. Thank You for loving the

I rejoice along with Open Doors for the numbers of Azeris who are
coming to faith in Christ. It is You who grants that faith and paves
the way for those decisions, and I thank You. There are many more
Azeris who have not yet made decisions for You, and in some cases have
not yet heard of You. I pray that You would make ways for all Azeris to
hear about Your good news and to be given the opportunity to respond to
the gospel. I pray that You would continue to raise up Azeri
Christians to share their faith with their fellow Azeris – and that You
would also send missionaries into these lands so that the Azeris can all
hear about You and what You did for them.
I pray tonight for the churches and church leaders who are under
surveillance by the authorities. I pray that You would make them wise
and shrewd, and that You would grant them protection and direction as
they operate in this precarious state. I pray that You would protect
these churches and keep them from being closed down – and that the
believers would never give up the habit of meeting together in spite of
the difficulty of their circumstances. I pray that You would give
courage and boldness and wisdom especially to the church pastors and
leaders as they follow You and lead their congregations to follow You in
the face of great danger.
And finally, I lift up each and every believer in Azerbaijan. First I
pray for those believers who are actively sharing their faith and who
are fulfilling the Great Commission in doing so. I pray that You would
give them continued grace, boldness and wisdom. I pray that You would
lead them to those people who are ripe for harvest and who need to hear
Your gospel. I also pray for those who are struggling to live our their
Christian walk because of fear or persecution. Thank You for Your
amazing grace that meets each of us where we are. Meet them where they
are and give them courage and the faith to trust You to be faithful as
they follow Your commands and shine their light for You. I ask these
things in the name of Jesus, amen.
